About Us
League Timeline
The JOUSTING LEAGUE was announced at the SLTA ANNIVERSARY on June 6, 2012 with a simple mission. To increase the cooperation between jousts in SL that differ in techniques, lances, list settings and rules and extend fellowship to those who may favor advesarial polices that DIVIDE rather then UNITE the jousting community. Jousters caught in the middle suffer most, but so do those wishing to attract others to their events.
LEAGUE CHARTER
Formulating Principal
Our charter is similar to RL Sports organizations like the NFL, founded in 1920:
"Raise the standard of professional (sport) in every way possible, eliminate bidding for players between rival clubs and to secure cooperation in the formation of schedules".
LEAGUE MISSION
Inspirational Principal
“With malice towards none, with charity for all.”
The words of Abraham Lincoln, from his second innaugeral address March 4, 1865
serve as the inspirational guide for League practices.

LEAGUE GOALS
Guiding Principal
Our goal is to facilitate intra-league play, not dictate how individual jousts should run. Jousting can be enjoyed in all its forms and venues, respecting the personal role-play preferences of each Realm; Provide a forum for discussing issues and best practices without compliance; Promote jousting opportunities in SL that highlight the accomplishments of its participants; And expand charity efforts.
Our operational principals include the following key points.
BUILDING BRIDGES
- Coordinate schedules between jousts to avoid conflicts.
- Promote more opportunities for intra-league competition.
- Support each venue regardless of personal preference for lance, list, rules or participants.
SERVING COMMUNITY
- Promote Charitable activies.
- Promote available SL jousting opportunities to the widest number of jousters.
- Provide jousters additional opportunities to gain recognition for their skills through
league standings and annual awards.
- Track the statistics of winners on a weekly basis.
- Give voice to best practices for intra-league jousting, without mandating compliance.
- Provide a forum for lively debate and constructive opinion guided by civil discourse.
- Allow all to to update information regarding the Sport of Jousting.
- Help establish a jousters Hall Of Fame for inducting the best of the Sport's participants.
- The Leagues founder and/or owner will not exercise any management rights beyond support functions to prevent conflicts of interest from any single MERCHANT, OWNER, REALM, GROUP or INDIVIDUAL.
- Joining the League will not be required. The League shall serve as a community resource, not an exclusive club offering one level of service to members, and another to non-members.
- Individual hosts may bar or ban indivdiuals from their jousts who violate their rules or policies, but the League shall remain neutral in such matters, and not serve as a tribunal with authority to remove or reinstate participants.
- Meetings (via virtual attendance, email or survey) shall be open to all using the ‘round table’ forum as a guiding principal for equality of consultation through chivalrous discourse.
- Anyone who hosts a Joust shall be granted representative (Officer) status in the League.
- Participating Officers will have the opportunity to adopt or amend recommendations from general meetings for best practices or guidelines, by unanimous consent, excluding abstentions, or otherwise table pending until resolved, without protest.
- Any Realm, group or individual may participate in League services to track annual results, promote their joust, and participate in intra-league play regardless of Jousting preference or adoption of League recommendations.
- Any principal manufacturer of jousting equipment will be considered an advisor to the League, whose advice can be freely solicited at general meetings.
- The League will maintain an adequate staff of volunteers to carry out the work required by the League.
- Realm rights shall remain paramount. Any league recommendations do not mandate compliance. Each joust has the right to review and adopt in entirety, in part, or not at all.
- Individual rights remain paramount. Each participant has the freedom to choose joust(s) for variety, challenge or consistancy of practice, without coersion.
